Case Study 7
Shraddha is a Grade 1 teacher who loves doing activities in class. However, her greatest challenge is during the transition that takes place as students arrive and complete their morning routines. They can include the time moving from one activity to the next (ex: moving from a reading lesson to a math lesson.) And those times where students leave or enter the classroom, for lunch, recess, end of the day, etc. The class feels chaotic at times – there are a lot of transitions in one day! The students take their own time to settle back or only after she shouts or commands, which she doesn’t want to do.
